What Are Regulated Exams?

The exam boards below (with the exception of RADA) are recognised awarding organisations by Ofqual (the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations in England), and the corresponding regulatory authorities in Wales (Qualification Wales) and Northern Ireland (Council for the Curriculum, Examinations & Assessment).

What this means is that all  regulated exams have been designed in such a way that a direct comparison can be made between those regulated exams and academic qualifications like GCSEs and A-levels. Learners taking these exams are tested on their knowledge, skills and understanding of the subject and will only be awarded a qualification if they show they have achieved the required level.

Regulated exams at Level 3 (Grades 6, 7 & 8) carry UCAS (The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) points for university and college application.

Non-regulated exams are specific to the exam board to which they are linked.

Subjects at Grades 6, 7 & 8 carry UCAS Points For University Application
